Paulette GOLDENBERG was born on July 29, 1929, in Jassy, Romania. She was arrested in Nice, 43 rue Masséna, and deported on convoy 69 of March 7, 1944.

During the night of November 5, 1942, the French police arrested 1,064 Jews of Greek origin – 364 men, 527 women, and 173 children – out of 1,416 who had registered in Paris. The chief of the anti-Jewish section of the Gestapo wrote to the Nazi police chief in France: One has the impression that this time the French police were successful in keeping the action secret until the last moment, following instructions. Please express our recognition to the Prefecture of Police for this work.

This picture shows Rita ALFANDARI, one of the 173 children arrested and deported – almost all, like Rita – four days after arrest on convoy 44 of November 9, 1942. She was born in France on March 10, 1932; she lived in Paris at 44 rue Basfroi (11th arr.).
