I am working on a speech for my english class and my topic is The warsaw ghetto. I would like to get more in depth like what it was actually like for the Jews who were forced to live in the warsaw ghetto. I would like to get more info on what living conditions were like and how they survived. Any information you can give me will be very helpful, thank you
An excellent source on this subject would be a book by Martin Gilbert called The Holocaust - A History of the Jews during the second World War. It is both in hard cover and soft back. It is published by Henry Holt and Company, and the ISBN number is 0-8050-0348-7 Good luck.

Thank you for your recent request for information.
I am one of the persons at the Holocaust History Project that responds to questions from our readers. It is possible that other members of our project will wish to respond as well.
To get a visual idea of what happened to the Jews who were confined to the Warsaw ghetto, there is no better source than the photographs taken by the Nazi perpetrators. If you visit our web-page again at:
http://www.holocaust-history.org/works/stroop-report/htm/intro001.htm and scroll down the page you will come upon 49 thumbnail pictures of the final moments of the Warsaw ghetto as taken by the military troops under Major General Stroop. If you click on the link which appears in the second paragraph at the top of the page which reads:
_displayed by Jackson_
you will be taken to a description in English of these actions as they appear in Volume 2, pages 126 and 127, of the International Military Tribunal.
I suggest that you visit your school library and look for:
The Encyclopedia of the Holocaust
Israel Gutman, editor-in-chief
c. 1990, Macmillan (New York)
ISBN 0-02-864527-8 (set)
and look under "Warsaw" for an in-depth article on the creation of the ghetto and a description of the living conditions that the Jews were forced to endure.

I was searching your website and found very little on Warsaw ghetto, is there any information you can provide to me about Warsaw to help with my project? Thank you for your time.
